INDOOR RULES

Return To Main

INDOOR SOCCER PLAYING RULES – A condensed version to be used as a reminder for Academy indoor players.

Outside the Arena – Absolutely no smoking or drinking is allowed. No skateboards, roller blades, skates or bicycles are allowed on the premises. No gum is allowed. This is an indoor facility, therefore no spitting allowed in the building. Any individual who breaks any of these rules may be banished from the Academy.

Administration – Adult teams can register to play by having their manager or coaches complete the team registration form and submitting a non-refundable team deposit of $200.00 prior to the start of the season. The balance of the registration is due, payable in full, by the second regularly scheduled game. Failure to pay by the second game will result in a $75.00 late fee and a possible forfeit of the game. Each player must fill out and sign a current registration/waiver form for each team that they play on as well as that team’s roster. This is the captain’s responsibility. Adult team rosters will be frozen after the team’s third game. No new players can be added during the remainder of the season. Any illegal players on a team will result in a forfeit for each game the illegal player played, and the team could possibly forfeit the remainder of the season.

Organized youth teams that will play in our Winter indoor leagues must have all youth players officially registered with the GSSA. Any players who are not registered with GSSA must complete a GYSA player registration form and include a $12.00 fee for insurance. Each player must have his or her parent or guardian complete the individual player registration form. Coaches must fill out a team roster form. After the third game, players can not be added to the roster. Failure to comply with this rule will result in a 3-0 game forfeit(s) for teams with players playing that are not currently and properly registered.

Only players, coaches, and trainers are allowed in the player’s box – no exceptions! Any spectator that goes onto the filed during the game will be indefinitely banned from the Academy. Bench clearing may result in that team being banned.

A team must start the game with at least 4 players and no more than 6.

Guaranteed substitutions can be used by the team in possession and can only be called at restarts for ball out of bounds and kickoffs.

Balls that touch the top net result in restarts from the center of the closest redline. Balls touching the side net result in restarts 3 feet from the wall. Balls touching the back net result in either a goalkick or a cornerkicker.

All players must wear shinguards.

No turf shoes allowed on the indoor arena or in the building.

No one with a cast or splint will be allowed to participate in any game.

All players on the same team will wear the same color jersey with a unique number.

We recommend no slide tackling in the arena due to the abrasive artificial turf.

All kicks are direct, including the kickoff. The defender must be 15 feet away from the ball. The kicker has 5 seconds to restart once the ball is properly placed.

The FIFAs pass back rule now applies for indoor: The goalkeeper shall not handle an intentional pass back from a teammate.

2 minute (blue card) penalties:

Any player receiving a second 2-minute penalty shall be cautioned (yellow), and serve 4 minutes. A third 2-minute card is dismissal (red), and a teammate serves a major-minute penalty.

Fouls committed in the penalty box by the defending team will result in a shoot-out and 2-minute penalty.

Players ejected must sit out the next schedule game. Players ejected for fighting must sit out 2 weeks. Players receiving two ejections in one season must sit out the remainder of the season (NO REFUNDS). A Player receiving 2 ejections for fighting will be banned from the facility forever (NO EXCEPTIONS)! Anyone who is asked to leave the premises by the management for any reason and refuses will be banned from the facility forever.

To play on a men’s league, the age is 18 and older. Any individual that is under 18 must get permission from the Academy to play and must have a waiver signed from their parent or guardian.

Ladies’ teams playing in this division can have 2 players the ages of 18-22. All other players on the roster must be 23 or older. If this rule is broken, the game or games in which the illegal player has played will be forfeited and the team could possibly forfeit the remainder of the season.

All players, coaches, fans and officials must abide by The Academy rules of conduct, posted throughout the facility.

One referee will be appointed to officiate each game. A second referee may be appointed for play-off, championship, or other games.
